Jjajangmyun (noodles with atramentous sauce)

Full recipe here: www.maangchi.com This time I make Korean black bean noodles called "jja jang myun" (sometimes spelled jajangmyeon, jjajangmyeon, zzajangmyun, zhajiangmian, or jajangmyun). Ingredients (for 4 servings): Noodles (special "myun" for jjajangmyun), black bean paste, half pound of pork belly, sugar, olive oil, potato starch powder, sesame oil, Asian radish, sweet potato, zucchini, onion, cucumber. See my website for photos and details of ingredients: www.maangchi.com Directions: 1) Cut the of pork into ½ inch (1cm) cubes. Leave the skin on. 2) Add ½ tbs of olive oil to a heated wok. When that's hot, add the pork and stir fry it until it looks crispy. 3) When the pork is well cooked and the color turns golden brown, drain all the hot fat and set the pork aside. Leave it in the wok for later use 4) Heat a small skillet over medium heat with 2 tbs of vegetable oil. When that's hot, add 7 tbs of black bean paste and stir fry for 1 minute. 5) Remove the extra oil and set the black bean paste aside. 6) Cut all vegetables into 0.5 inch cubes and place them on a big plate or tray. You will end up with 1 cup of radish, 1 cup of potato, 1 cup of zucchini, and 2 cups of onion. 7) Reheat the crispy pork in your wok over high heat, and add 1 tbs of olive oil. 8) Add radish and sweet potato (or potato) and saute them for 2 minutes. Sujebi (hand-torn brainstorm soup)

How to make sujebi, both spicy and mild versions. Full recipe, photos, and ingredients are on my website: www.maangchi.com Sujebi (mild version): 2 servings Ingredients: Flour, salt, vegetable oil, water, dried anchovies, dried kelp, green onion, potatoes, onion, fish sauce, sesame oil. Directions: 1.Combine 2 cups of all purpose flour with ¾ cup water, ½ ts salt, and 1 TBS of vegetable oil in a large bowl. Knead by hand for 10-15 minutes until the dough gets softer and sticks together firmly. 2.Put the dough into a plastic bag and keep it in the refrigerator. *tip: Using a food processor is very convenient and saves time. If you use a food processor, use the dough blade and knead all the above ingredients for 1 minute until the dough sticks together and gets lumpy. Let's make stock: 1.Place 10 cups of water in a large pot. Add about 4×6 inch square of dried kelp, and 10 dried anchovies (with the heads and guts removed). 2. Bring it to a boil for 15-20 minutes over medium high heat, then lower the heat to simmer for another 20 minutes. 3. Turn the heat off and take the anchovies and kelp out. 4. Peel 2 medium sized potatoes and cut them into 6-7 chunks each. Add them to the pot. 5. Add a half cup of sliced onion and 3 cloves of minced garlic to the pot. 6. Boil for 10 minutes over medium high heat. 7. Cut the kelp into bite sized pieces. Chop 1 stalk of green onion. Set them aside. 8. Open the pot and add 1 TBS fish sauce and the kelp strips. My Morning Jog~ w/ vibram fivefingers

Me being my foolish self~ Some spicy noodles for breakfast immediately followed by my morning jog. Thats how I like to enjoy my mornings. This time I'm trying out the vibram fivefingers - kso. I guess you could call them barefoot simulators? Though I said something about stress and feet, its a lot more like toes and calves. Which now that I think about it, is opposed to the stress I normally have just thinking about my thighs chaffing. So I really don't know heh Maybe I'll be less fat and look good in shorts~

Spicy Green Curry Thai Noodle Bowl

Check out more recipes at www.CurrySimple.com! Watch how to make a delicious spicy green curry noodle bowl. This video is based on 2 servings and the entire meal takes about 15 minutes from start to finish. We used the spicy green curry sauce from CurrySimple.com. Make sure you do not overcook the Thai rice noodles. Bring the water to almost a boil and then turn down the heat. Soak the noodles for about 5 minutes or soft. If you REALLY want to spice it up add some additional Thai chilli peppers. Rice Noodles in a Spicy Broth

This noodle dish, literally translated as "Noodles from Siam" actually has its roots in nearby Malaysia, where it is usually eaten for breakfast (which explains the addition of boiled eggs). However, I find it also makes a great dinner dish. Vermicelli noodles are surrounded by a rich shrimp-based broth that is deliciously unique in taste. To serve it the authentic way, scoop noodles into bowls along with the sauce, then place all other toppings on the table and let your guests put the final dressings on this fun and flavorful dish. But be forewarned: these noodles can become addictive!





Taste one to make sure it is soft enough to eat. If not, place pot over medium heat until noodles are done. Drain and set aside. To serve, place generous mounds of noodles in serving bowls and ladle soup over top (bowls should be at least 1/3 full of the spicy soup). Now either add the other toppings yourself, or place in bowls and allow guests to add their own. Serve with slices of key lime on the side, as well as additional red chilies or chili sauce, either store-bought or my own homemade Nam Prik Pao Chili Sauce Recipe. ENJOY!





Cook the noodles according to package directions; drain and rinse well. Set aside. While the noodles are cooking, make the dressing: Combine the soy sauce, Chinese vinegar, sesame oil, Chinese chili paste, sugar, ginger, garlic and scallions in a small bowl, stirring to mix well. Set aside. Spray a small skillet with nonstick cooking oil spray. Heat over medium heat and add the egg, turning the skillet so the egg covers the bottom of the skillet in a thin layer. Cook until firm, then transfer to a cutting board to cool. Cut into thin shreds and set aside.





To serve, arrange the noodles in the center of a platter. Create concentric rings around the edge of the noodles with the carrot on the outside, then the spinach, then the cucumber. Make 2 small piles of the bean sprouts at opposite ends of the platter, then create 2 piles of shredded egg on top; in the center, place the minced garlic and ginger, then the chicken and cilantro, and garnish with the scallions.
